Do I know you? - Part 1

Marriages…Marriages?! Ugh! Phew! Who had made this rule? Each parent who has a girl child in the age of 20 onwards is worried only of this aspect and nothing else?

Ugh! When will this world change and give the women the right to earn like a man and be responsible like a man…!!!

I am fed up? I never knew my own family would also react to me like this? All they can think of possible BAKRA’s {Scapegoat} for me and nothing else. Whoever they get for me fits into the bill of my type and that’s all they need…they bring him on a fine day and I have to put up with this hungama [drama] for almost half a day and then endure the after effects of it?

I had enough of this. I am not going to tolerate….ENOUGH!

Fuming within herself, she walks on the road of Madiwala, the streets that she lives in, now it almost like a century for her. This place was all knew when they had moved in. There were very few houses and the streets were of mud and did not have been tarred but now it is a city of its own and there is so much of crowd that her breath starts pleading for space and air! She is at this place since her schooling.

She is almost at the end of the road and delves into the main road which leads to Electronic City. The place of her office at the end of the juncture she has her bus stop, the D500 bus stops there to pick her up.

A bus zooms by and if she had been a second sooner, the bus would have brushed against her skin and left her injured.

Thank god, she is safe. She turned around to see, which numbered bus flew past her…to her dismay it was the bus – D500 that ply’s to Electronic City. Now, that it has left she has to wait for an hour in that stupid bus stop to take the other one.

The reason behind waiting so long for a transport is that the particular bus was an air-conditioned bus and could give you the comfortable ride till your destination killing the sun from outside.

She knows it will be only her who would wait in the bus stop, but today she finds a smart looking fellow seated at the bus stop waiting. She wonders who the hell is he and does not want any trouble from him. She was not in a mood to be polite and especially to an eligible bachelor…all are creeps!

She is extremely angry. She cannot stand the sight of men now. What’s wrong with her? Oh! God, grant me some peace. With one stern look she walks past him and settles on one corner of the seat and gets lost in the book she is currently reading…Tolstoy was narrating ‘War and Peace’.

There he wonders why she gave me such a creepy look. What do I look like? Huh! All these women think men folk have no other work, other than gaping at their features and wondering what it would be? Huh! Not interested, maam.

He does not know what to do…his heart and mind unrest due to the happenings at home, why don’t people understand? All I wanted is some time for myself…A man can’t earn his freedom in this relatively independent world!

He had been at the right time to the bus stop, in spite of being here. He could not take the bus that went by because he was lost in his thoughts and was debating to himself when he looked up the doors of the bus had closed and almost rolled out of the stop. He pulls out his current read and leafs through Tolstoy’s ‘Anna Karenina’… what a wonderful writer!
